Stable Elements in Czechia's Rural Landscape: Heritage of Past Centuries

Publication at Faculty of Science |
2014

Abstract

The primary objective of this article is to use selected case studies to show how the macro-structure and micro-structure of Czech landscape has changed over the past two centuries. Two cadastral territories in the Žďárské vrchy [Žďár Mountains] are used as examples.

The study compares maps from the stable cadastre (prepared in approx. 1840) and modern aerial photos (approx. 2010) of the selected areas. The article also seeks to demonstrate the use of GIS to research landscape and its stable elements.
