The Principle of Charity as a Solution to the Problem of Translation and Understanding

Abstract

This paper aims implementation of selected knowledge (The principle of Charity, Ontological relativity) which were developed in the context of analytic philosophy of language (Davidson, Quine) making methodology of cultural anthropology based on interpretative approaches investigating social actors / entities exploration. The first part will be devoted to explanation of thought experiments ( radical translation , radical interpretation ) In the discussion of analytic philosophy of language (Quine, Davidson).

The second part will focus on the transfer of this knowledge to the methodology of cultural anthropology. In the final part shall refer to a violation of the principle of inclusion.

We will focus on critical reflection theories that have been developed in the field of linguistic anthropology, specifically linguistic relativism (Sapir, Whorf).
