Publication at Faculty of Medicine in Hradec Králové |
2014

Abstract

Hormonal therapy is the oldest and safest clinically proven therapeutic method used in all stages of breast cancer. It is a targeted, individualized treatment.

Four basic treatment modalities, namely ablative method, competition, inhibiting and additive are included to the clinical practice. It is the preferred treatment for hormone-dependent breast cancers, including visceral involvement, if there is no high risk or evidence of hormone resistance or need to quickly achieve therapeutic response.

The article contains the current recommended cascade of hormonal treatment, including basic studies which the recommendation is based on, the side effects, and the possibility of overcoming hormone resistance due to new medicines coming into clinical practice.
