It has been only 12 years since a Mesolithic horizon of settlement in Bohemian Paradise was recognized. Although the first artifacts were collected at the start of 20th century, for almost century the horizon remained unrecognized.
In recent years we were able to reexamine all old collections, build a chronological framework and excavate new sites with complex stratigraphies and hearths. We are beginning to explore large peat accumulations in Podtrosecké and the Kněžmostka valley.
In both areas we have identified very promising sites with much potential for interdisciplinary research.
