Abstract

This case-report demonstrates a rapid effect of lipid emulsion on malignant arrythmic storm in life-threatening caffeine overdose. We also - for the first time - describe a sequence of hypo- and hyperkalemia during the course of the overdose, possibly due to cAMP-related activation of NaKATPase and potassium redistribution.

We consider this highly relevant for the practice of emergency medicine and intensive care medicine.
