Abstract

The issue of Paragone (or competition) informs a large number of the early modern texts and works of art dealing with visual arts. In this article, an engraving representing Cupid and Psyche, which was made by Jan Harmensz.

Muller after a work by Bartholomeus Spranger around 1600, has been analyzed in the light of this issue.
