Abstract

The aim of the article is to show the contribution of classical pragmatism with respect to value-laden inquiry. In action is shown a key role of experience which is crucial for traditional empirism.

But the concept of experience is in context of classical pragmatism reconsidered in fundamental way. From a pragmatic point of view is experience, cornerstone of knowledge, considered as an active process consists in mutual cooperation between man and environment.

Beliefs are then constituted on basis of this kind of interaction. The character of our beliefs is explained with respect to our action and successive interpretation of this action.

At first, I pay attention to the value-neutral conception of scientific inquiry in work of M. Weber.

In opposition to Weberian project are then developped (neo)pragmatist perspectives which are concentrated on holistic aspect of pragmatism and which emphasize interconnection between scientific theories and philosophical beliefs, and therefore seek for abolition of distinction between fact, theory and value which outlasts in sociological paradigm of M. Weber.
