The Mystery of Artwork and the Idea of Criticism

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2014

Abstract

The study offers a systematical explanation of Walter Benjamin's concept of art criticism between 1916 and 1925. It focuses on ontological question and on two inspirational sources of this conception: romantic (primary Schlegel's) and Goethe's thoughts.

The most important themes are: the reality and (necessary) seemingness of art; the temmporality (and timelessness) of artwork; the relationship between art and creation.
