In tourism there appears new sustainable forms responding to needs of society while putting stress on education and enlightment. Exactly in the spirit of it there is a thought of geoparks, which in interesting way interpret to visitors the importance of local natural and cultural heritage.
This contribution focuses mainly on the educational role of tourism in geoparks and suitable interpretation of local values. The educational programme created by geoparks strives for multilateral approach of local heritage and its approximation to the widest possible public, especially through sports, cultural and social events.
Lately, in favor of it there is a help of modern technologies expanding the range of its visitors. The interactive educative trails, exhibitions and visitor centres have a great potential in the future to increase education in science and cognition of, up to now, neglected places.
