The paper develops the basic question of a conference on Eduard Goldstücker, which tooks place on May 30th 2013 at the Faculty of Arts of Charles University in Prague and initiates in the afterwards printed main contributions of this conference. It first introduces in the life of Eduard Goldstücker and then gives an overview of the following essays.
