This paper presents Hartmut Binder's thorough Study "Kafka's Vienna. Portrait of a Difficult Relationship", in which Binder looks into the matter of Franz Kafka's relation to Vienna, which was marked by a strict rejection.
He develops all aspects of this relationship and meticulously records all details of all visits Kafka in Vienna until his death in a hospital near Vienna. The thoroughness of the research is on the one hand fascinating, but on the other hand one wonders how a reader who himself has no scientific interests and thus may use the submitted details in his research, deals with this wealth of details.
