Abstract

In Scandinavia, similar to the development of the Central European Literature in the 1950s and 1960s, emerges by the post-war generation of writers an evident need for innovation of literary approaches. The so-called experiment was ascribed a revitalizing function - both in the context of literature itself (meta-literary effect) as well as in the relationship between literature and reality (representation effect).

The development of Norwegian literature in 2nd half of 1960s can bee in many regards understood as accelerated and concentrated. The young generation of writers around the Profil magazine was remarkably oscillating between more or less conventional attitudes and were exploring their possibilities.

Jan Erik Vold's poetic "project" became one of the most distinct: there, the architecture of meaning structure creates a substantial connection between the experimental and the conventional mode of creating.
