Treatment of surface of implant materials by blood components

Publication at First Faculty of Medicine |

Abstract

The first point of contact between the implanted material and living tissue recipient's blood. Upon contact with blood are exchanged ions and proteins and the implant surface is modified by the activity of blood cells.

Interaction of surface material with blood is regulated by the physico-chemical properties of the implant. Therefore, the viability of the cells near the implant in the presence of various blood components, an important step in understanding the process of healing.

The surface modification of implant materials improves blood components osteoblast proliferation in all samples tested, but to different extents. Applications activated plasma (fibrin network) led to the unification of surfaces with a comparably high proliferation.

The stimulatory effect of serum or plasma coating rich in platelets was not so obvious.
