Atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases represent the largest world epidemy, which has started in Czech Republic since the 70th of the last century. Preventive Cardiology has made a big success during the last 25 years, especially in the risk factors managements, less in life-style changes.
More than 50% mortality reduce in patients with myocardial infarction is an impact of not only acute care improvement, but also of more effective preventive efforts. There are some evidences in the Czech post-MONICA study and European EUROASPIRE I-IV studies.
