How to presume and detect the presence depressive disorders?

Abstract

High prevalence of mental disorders in the European population is a warning sign. Increased rates of diagnostic success in the area of depressive disorders appear to be a necessity, as these disorders affects the patients with the risk of development comorbid somatic disorders, frequent inability to work and especially by heightened risk of suicidal behaviour.

Depressive disorders are often accompanied by somatic diseases, where the presence of a depressive disorder means a significant factor complicating recovery, as well as increased economic expenses on the treatment itself. Detection of depressive disorders is matter involving all areas of medicine and it can be approached in various manners, which lead to identifying the patients and the possibility of commencing treatment.
