Discovery of sporophytes in Ochyraea tatrensis (Bryophyta, Amblystegiaceae)

Publication at Faculty of Science |
2014

Abstract

Two fertile shoots of Ochyraea tatrensis were discovered at the type locality in the Nizke Tatry in Slovakia and its sporophyte is described and illustrated for the first time. This monotypic genus is endemic to the Carpathians and Europe and a new illustration of the whole plant is also presented.

The taxonomic position of O. tatrensis is briefly assessed and the genus is considered to be a member of the family Amblystegiaceae, close to Platyhypnum.
