Combination therapy for dyslipidemia

Publication at First Faculty of Medicine |

Abstract

The combination of lipid-lowering drugs finds its application íin many clinical situations. The most frequent combination is usually based on a statin, to which ezetimibe or a resin may be added if further reduction of LDL-cholesterol is required.

In the case of mixed dyslipidemia, especially within the context of type 2 diabetes, the combination of a statin with a fibrate or pharmacological doses of omega-3 fatty acids may be used.
