The reign of the Russian regent Anna Leopoldowna : Story of two palace overthrows

Abstract

In this paper I analyze the activities of regent Anna Leopoldowna, whose reign is considered one of the shortest in Russian history. I focus on the way, she was named regent and on the transformation of Ann's camarilla which ruled over the highest offices starting the year 1730.

I explain the reasons for the regent's failure and unseating as well.
