Abstract
The publication studies sociological relevance of alternative medicine today and compares its approach to disease and treatment with modern evidence based medicine. A special attention is paid toTraditional Chinese Medicine, homeopathy, and lay healing in Czech practice today.
The book also elucidates main reasons which are behind the use of alternative medicine by some sick people and which lead some physicians to train in additional alternative procedures to extend their clinical skills.
