Abstract
The study deals with the comprehensive school in Germany (FRG), the reasons of its origin in the 60th of the 20th century, its objectives, developmental twists and turns frequently influenced by the political situation, as well as it concerns the research recognizing its efficiency and the current position in the German education system.
