Czechoslovakia and the Holy Seat II/1.The Congregation for Extraordinary Ecclesiastical Affairs (1919-1925). Edition of selected documents

Publication at Hussite Theological Faculty |
2013

Abstract

The edition introduces documents selected from the Historical Archive of the State Secretariat - the Section for International Relations Sacra Congregazione degli Affari Ecclesiastici Straordinari - Rapporti delle Sessioni. The selected materials cover the period from the founding of Czechoslovakia in 1918 to the culmination of the crisis in relations between Czechoslovakia and Vatican due to papal nuncio Francesco Marmaggi's departure from Prague in July, 1925.

Each record (manuscript) of the proceedings of this congregation was preceded by printed material, often with appendices to the negotiated affairs. Members of the congregation had this material at their disposal before the sessions.

Handwritten records from individual sessions are therefore closely related to the presented printed material issued for every session. In this edition, the printed material that the members of the congregation had before the sessions is published separately from the records of the sessions of the Congregation for Extraordinary Church Affairs.

The appendices to the printed materials are either published in their entirety, or anotated in the notes section. The documents are published in their original language.
