On Parsifal Reception in Bohemian Lands and Parsifal Production at National Theatre in Prague 2011

Abstract

The article deals with Richard Wagner's last work i.e. with his "Bühnenweihfestspiel" Parsifal (1881) and its reception in Bohemian Lands (Prague) since 1880s until the recent production at Prague National Theatre in 2011. Based on an analyse of this production (stage director: Jiří Heřman, conductor: John Fiore), stage design and its symbolic dimensions, light design, stage direction, and critical comments of Czech and international press are described and reflected.
