Abstract
This study understands body piercing not in terms of perforation of body tissue and insertion of jewellery into these openings, but in terms on meanings which are given to this phenomenon by piercees themselves in lived experience. It is based on empirical research carried out primarily by semi-structured interviews with youth attending secondary schools as one of the primary consumers of this phenomenon
