Abstract

Common side effects of interferon β treatment in multiple sclerosis include flu-like symptoms and injection site reactions. both types of the adverse reactions demonstrate high interindividual variability, and tend to decrease or cease throughout the first months of treatment. Mostof cases do not need therapy discontinuation, and can be managed by interferon β dose titration, refimen adjustment, and local or systemic treatment.

The adverse reactions had been also decreased by introducing a new formulation of subcutaneous interferon β-1a without human serum albumin and foetal bovine serum. We bring a review of practical recommendations for adverse reactions managemnet followed by two brief case reports.
