Abstract
The thesis presented deals with the period of the Stroked pottery culture (Stichbandkeramik, STK) based on the example of two settlements: i.e. Jaroměř and Kolín (Bohemia, Czech Republic).
This rich collection of finds offers the possibility of a number of differing interpretations. The purpose of this paper is to suggest possible models of the transformations of the functioning of Neolithic settlements, in regard to their social structure and identity of their inhabitants.
Those cultural variables are described against the background of the spatial changes taking place chronologically between the archaeological entities with Linear Pottery Culture and later stages of the Stroked Pottery Culture. Also subjects of interest are the changes in behaviour patterns in connection with settlement refuse management; primarily analysed was the pottery material and also other kinds of refuse to a lesser extent.
