From Kuma\War to Quraish: Representation of Islam in Arab and American Video Games

Publication at Faculty of Arts |
2014

Abstract

This chapter discusses three American and three Arab video games and analyzes the ways in which they (a) construct virtual representations of Islam and Muslims and (b) communicate these representations to their audiences. On a broader theoretical level, this chapter aims to explore how Islam, both as an organized system of belief and lived reality, is integrated into the video game medium and what ethical considerations this hold or implies.
