According to Father John S. Romanides is Orthodoxy a science and according to contemporary criteria, it is a medical science.
God loves all people, without exception and He wants to save and heal all of them, but He cannot, because not all want to be healed. God cannot heal everyone, because He holds man in high regard and loves him and does not violate the human will.
The Orthodox Church is called to proclaim to mankind that the true God exists, that he reveals Himself as Light or as a devouring fire, and that all of humanity will see God at the Second Coming of Christ. When the Orthodox Church prepares her members to see God as Light, She is offering them a curative course of treatment that must begin and end in this life, because there is no repentance after death.
This curative course of treatment consist of three stages of spiritual ascent: purification, illumination and theosis. The Orthodox preachers have a very responsible task - to show to the faithful the path, which leades to spiritual healing - to unification with God - to theosis.
