Linguistic Naming: Some Remarks to the Complementarity between Derivation and Compounding in the Evolution of Italian

Abstract

The paper deals with the complementarity of derivation and compounding in the lingusitic history of Italian. VN compounds in Italian are discussed in order to show the increase of the productivity of compounding with respect to the overall system of Italian word-formation.
