Myth - "Reality" - Identity. The Socialist Metropolis in Struggles for a New Present and Vision of a Happy Future

Abstract

This book presents the history of real socialism through the unconventional lens of select Central European cities of both national (Prague, Warsaw, Bratislava, and smaller Czech City Písek), compared to capitalist Vienna, the Austrian Metropolis. The socialist elan and repression of the new regime towards "enemies" is examined in terms of national and local urban mythology, which created unique blends with international mythologies.
