Abstrakt
The paper deals with a sudden appearance of the fantastic elements in Brazilian regionalist short story of the turn of the 20th century. It examines this specific modality of the fantastic as a phenomenon on the interface of two worlds: rapidly modernized city of the intellectual elite and the archaic world of the rural Brazil.
