Abstract

The aim of the study was to examine the change of perceived social cohesion in school classes after outdoor course experience. The research sample consisted of 47 students of 6th grade of primary school and 2nd - 4th grade of secondary school who took part in a three days outdoor course focused on the development of relationships and cooperation in the group.

The level of perceived cohesion was set down by 2 sociometric questions and the Group Cohesion Evaluation Questionnaire which were submitted before and after the course. Sociometric data were analysed by the index of social cohesion.

Its change was evaluated by Cohen d (δ) for each question separately (δ= 0,14, or 0,71). Group Cohesion Evaluation Questionnaire was analysed by Wilcoxon's test.

By comparing the results of pre-test and post-test Z - 3,708 P<0,001 we realised that there was a significant change in perceived social cohesion after the outdoor course experience.
