Poor posture is the result of musculoskeletal distortion in the neck, and lower and upper back. Upright posture of the cervical-thoracic spine was done with the activity of the muscle chain latissimus dorsi, with the tested movement of the external rotation and adduction of the arms.
Posture of the cervical-thoracic spine was evaluated in the sagittal plane. Twenty subjects (4 man: 24,5 +- 4,3 years; 16 female: 24 +- 2,5 years) without pathology or injury of the pelvis, shoulder girdle and spine were recruited.
The posture of the cervical-thoracic spine and the inclination of the pelvis were measured with the kinem atic analysis. The Z axis intersected TH1-TH12-SIPS in the case of the upright posture of the cervical-thoracic spine.
High correlation (Pearson r = - 0,96; p < 0,01) was achieved between the inclination of the pelvis and the upright posture of the cervical-thoracic spine. The upright posture of the cervical-thoracic spine was created only if there was the neutral position of the pelvis.
