Solar and QBO Influences on the Middle Atmosphere Dynamics

Abstrakt

This study is focused on the sensitivity of the middle atmosphere dynamics to important climatic phenomena such as the 11-yr solar cycle (SC) and Quasi-Biennial Oscillation (QBO). The analysis is based on the composition analysis regarding the SC maximum and SC minimum or QBO west and east conditions.

These influences are studied using the last generation of reanalysis, i.e., ERA-Interim, MERRA and JRA-55. Current scientific findings are reviewed together with description of mechanisms for the Holton-Tan relationship.
