The prerequisites for the primary swimming literacy in early childhood

Abstract

It is crucial to build all early physical activity programs on current expertise of neurophysiological, psychological and kinesiological principles of child development. Only those rules created by linking current scientific knowledge and empirical experience serve as the basis for an effective physical activity program that is not only commercially filling time of parents and their children, but has the potential to become a building block in the construction of the movement, or specific swimming literacy.

The publication seeks to provide a summary of the essential scientific basis for physical aktivity programs in the aquatic environment, to clarify the principles and patterns of early psychomotor development with respect to the unique effect of the aquatic environment.
