František Lexa in Egypt: an account of the 1930-1931 study trip to Egypt undertaken by the founder of Egyptology in Czechoslovakia

Abstract

The study is concerned with the preparations, course, and outcomes of the study trip of František Lexa to Egypt in 1930-1931. The study summarises the findings and conclusions contained in my unpublished annotated edition of Lexa's travel journal from Egypt, entitled "František Lexa: setkání s Egyptem [František Lexa: Encountering Egypt]", completed in 2005 and presented at the 9th colloquium "Orientalia Antiqua Nova" in Plzeň in 2009.
