The limits of mathematics software and its users

Abstract

The paper presents research focused on several common obstacles users face when working in CAS-systems and when interpreting the gained results. Based on students' work we introduce a new type of obstacle - users' unfounded trust in the potential of the software.

We describe the causes of development of such obstacles and suggest possible approach to its reeducation. All this is illustrated by examples in which mathematics programmes usually fail.
