Abstract
A critical analysis of the representation of the figure of Kṛṣṇa as a baby lying on the banyan leaf in Indian art with reference to the textual records in the Mahābhārata and in the Bhāgavata- and Mārkaṇḍeya-Purāṇas. It is documented by ten figures.
