In contrast to general assumption that LG chironomid fauna in Central Europe was species-poor, spatially homogeneous and adapted to cold, oligotrophic conditions, we register significant differences among localities, including the level of dominant species (abundance > 30 %): Komořanské Lake - Chironomus plumosus-type, Plešné Lake - Micropsectra radialis-type, Paracladius, Pseudodiamesa nivosa-type, Stará jímka - Heterotrissocladius grishawi-type, Micropsectra insignilobus/contracta-type, Micropsectra radialis-type, Psectrocladius sordidellus-type, Tanytarsus lugens-type. Results illustrate the great variability of aquatic ecosystems even in periglacial area during a cold period LGM.
