Diachronic Part of the Czech National Corpus and the Limits of Corpus-Based Research of the History of Czech

Abstract
The paper deals with the limits of corpus-based research of the entire history of Czech, ensuing from the limited number of authentic texts from earlier phases of the language as well as the changing representation of individual text types. The author also identifies elementary problems that have to be approached to minimalize the influence of the second abovementioned factor (changing representation of text types) and to provide a basis for a satisfactory compatible comparison of evolution of Czech within the scope of a largest possible part of its 700-year historical continuum.
