The impact of marital dissolution on fertility in the Czech Republic

Publication at Faculty of Science |
2014

Abstract

This article analyses the fertility of people who experience divorce or the death of a spouse during reproductive age. The objective is to determine whether these people have more or fewer children than people whose marriage lasts until the age of 50 using data from the Generations and Gender Survey and employing the life table method and the Cox regression model.

According to the results marital dissolution has a double effect on fertility, depending on a person's subsequent partnership situation.
