Abstract

This chapter touches on some of the problems that can be caused familiarization students with traditional mythological and biblical themes through works of art. It deals with the question of whether it is possible to work with pupils' preconceptions and rely on the general understanding of a work of art, or whether it is necessary to pay special attention to understanding its formal means.
