Professional competence in preparation of Physical Education Teachers for Artistic Gymnastics

Abstract

The non-uniform conception of study programmes preparing Physical Education Teachers affects negatively the graduates' level of professional competences. The contribution objective is to determine relevant and required professional competences of PE Teachers being acquired within the subject of Artistic Gymnastics as a part of teachers' preparation to practice gymnastic activities in the school PE.

The method used is comparison of expert opinions related to the topic. To resolve the thesis objective was used a Repertory grid technique. 15 semi-structured interviews were realized with experts - PE teachers of all school levels.

Using the content analysis constructs of all dialogues were summarized and divided in categories as per their implications. Mutual comparison and construct ranking were established using "Bootstrapping technique".

Out of 195 elicited constructs 9 categories were determined representing required competences.
