The chapter summarises the teaching of Apostle Paul on the marriage and the family and shows that Paul in contrary to the opinions of that time underlined the equality of the partners in the marriage and in the sexual life; but in the perspective of the near parousia he evaluated the marriage as a temporary state. His preference was the celibacy for the gospel.
The perspective of his followers has changed because of the changing situation of Christians in the society. They were obliged to be integrated into the society and Paul's disciples had to resolve the new questions of functioning of the families.
They tried to express the Christian proprium of the marriage and family life.
