Abstract
The article discusses the personality of Julius Zeyer and his relationship to the Orient themes. The writer tried to incorporate many themes into his texts, which were inspired by the Indian epic or by the Japanese stories.
He used English and French translations of the Indian and Japanese texts for his writing. He was one of the first Czech writers, who presented these themes after transforming them to Czech readers.
