Abstract

Type 2 diabetes therapy has been enriched by new group of peroral antidiabetics - sodium-glucose transport protein in hibitors - gliflozins. They are safe and they efficiently lower hyperglycaemia, weight and blood pressure, which means that they have complex effect.

They can be combined with alle the available antidiabetics, including insulin. Currently we are getting our first experiences with the first drug of this type - dapagliflozin, other gliflozins are ready for being introduced on the market (canagliflozin, empagliflozin, ipragliflozin) and more gliflozins are being developed.
