Abstrakt
Article dwells on one aspect of civilizing process in Russia, using as its point of departure a theoretical perspective inspired by sociologist Norbert Elias. First of all, it defines civilizational transformation in Eastern Europe in historico-sociological perspective.
Subsequently it reveals the main indicators of civilizing process. Those indicators will be reflected in Russian case by means of diachronic analyses of Russian history in 11-20.century.
In conclusion it is argued that phenomenon of Russian civilizing process is a remarkable and valuable addition to Elias concept.
