Abstract

Military training has been a part of the school curriculum for a long time. Form and content of teaching have changed under the influence of the political situation in the Czech lands.

After the revolution, namely in 1991 after the abolition of the military training was canceled without compensation. The information about health protection and effective action in case of emergencies weren't so cohernetly presented to students..

The results of the researches show that teachers perceive the need for the resumption of this issue in schools. The return was ensured by curriculum reform that makes the issue again included in the education.

The most often used name for this themes group is Human Protection in Emergencies. The paper presents the results of research, which took the form of a questionnaire survey and its aim was to explore the level of awareness of secondary vocational schools students on Human Protection in Emergencies.

Attention was focused on the difference between knowledge of students of the first and second grades of secondary vocational schools. The final part of the paper is devoted to outlining possible solutions around the unsatisfactory state of students' awareness about this mostly cross-curricular based set of topics.
