Effect of arginine on the quality of the bone tissue in rats

Abstract

We investigated the effect of arginine in the diet was administered for 12 weeks on bone metabolism in intact male Wistar rats. The bone mineral density of no significant difference was between the groups, a lower amount of adipose tissue in the group was Arg.

The forces necessary to fracture of tibia were not significantly weaker in rats fed a diet enriched with arginine. Effects of diets enriched with arginine only marginally decreased resistance to the three-point tibial fracture.
