Abstract

The author presents and analyses all the available archaeological remains and textual evidence concerning the beekeeping of Pharaonic Egypt. The production and uses of honey, beeswax and propolis are summarized.

Egypt as one of the earliest cultures known to keep bees achieved a remarkably high level of apiculture still in antiquity.
