The paper focuses on remarks and on references about one of the most important periods of modern Japanese history, which Yasuoka deals in his short stories. Having introduced the topic and set the premises, the author presents the following specific historical factors appearing in Yasuoka's short stories.
These are 1) American presence in Postwar Japan and 2) character stereotypes, prototypes of the new Japanese citizens in 1950s. The paper displays a possibility of interdisciplinary merging in rebuilding the image of a particular period of modern history.
